Our vaginas are tough and sensitive. From periods to sex and to giving birth to a baby, it has the power to hold a lot; still, it is sensitive and prone to bacteria and infections. We are proud to be ladies and have a vagina that is so strong to bring in a new life. But they can be discomforting as well at times. They can hurt and that pain can be mild to severe depending upon the situation. Here are 10 reasons why your vagina might be hurting.
- Endometriosis
In this, the tissues normally found inside your uterus starts growing outside your uterus which is called as endometriosis implant. It leads to severe pain, especially during periods. It involves your ovaries, lining of your pelvis or bowels. If you face severe pain during periods, visit your doctor.
- Interstitial cystitis
Your vagina may even hurt due to the factors not related to it because our female structure is closely knit and delicate. It is a painful bladder syndrome which involves bladder pressure, pain and sometimes pelvic pain which can be mild or severe. Go for a urine test to deal with the bladder problems.
- Pelvic floor tension myalgia
Its symptoms include burning, itchiness, pain in your vagina and heaviness in your pelvic region. It can be caused by various factors like childbirth or emotional problems. Botox can be used to relieve some of the tension for short term.
- Vulvodynia
It is like you have vaginal pain without any cause. It can be frustrating and perplexing. It can be because of the yeast infection you ever had, which makes you more susceptible to developing vulvodynia or nerve damage.
- Pelvic congestion syndrome
This is chronic, painful condition. In this, the varicose veins in your pelvic become weak and function improperly. This can lead to a dull painful pressure in your pelvis. If you experience pain, consult your doctor.
- Vaginal dryness
Your body experiences changes with time. Often, during menopause, a woman may face vaginal dryness. Childbirth and breastfeeding, chemotherapy, the removal of your ovaries and anti-estrogen medication can also lead to painful vaginal dryness.
- Vaginal muscle strain
You can pull your vaginal muscle with a simple workout. It is the similar pain you feel when pulling any other muscle. It can be one painful experience. Visit a doctor, if you think it is more than the muscle pull.
- Bladder infection
It is painful and discomforting. While urinating, you will experience a burning sensation. You can try home remedies to deal with this irritating situation. Visit your doctor as the bladder infection can turn into a kidney infection.
- STIs
This can happen to anyone. This comes in the form of itching, rashes, unusual discharge and pain depending on the type of STI. Always use protection before sexual intercourse with a new partner or get yourself and your partner tested.
- Sexual strain
Sometimes, severe intimate moments can make you feel a little bruised up next morning. If you have not seen action in bed and you are one delicate lady, you are prone to it. Take things easy initially till the time you are used to it.
